When people feel safe at work, they thrive. When they don’t, they simply survive.
At a recent breakfast event on harnessing wellbeing for performance, I explore why psychological safety is the foundation of high-performing teams and sustainable workplace cultures. I share personal experiences of working in both safe and unsafe environments, and the impact this has on collaboration, creativity, and performance.
Organisations that foster psychological safety gain a real competitive advantage. They create space for diverse perspectives, honest conversations, and innovative ideas to emerge. In contrast, when people are in survival mode - constantly scanning for threats, protecting themselves from blame, or afraid to speak up - they’re far less likely to take risks, solve problems creatively, or challenge the status quo!
Watch the video below to learn how leaders can move teams out of survival and into performance, why embracing diverse voices is key to innovation, and what practical steps organisations can take to build safer, stronger cultures where people can truly thrive.
